Île-de-France: a new transport tariff introduced from January 2025

Publié le 19 novembre 2024 - Directorate for Legal and Administrative Information (Prime Minister)

On 12 November 2024, the board of directors of Île-de-France Mobilités adopted a simplified fare for public transport journeys in the Paris region. As of 1er January 2025, occasional travelers will have the opportunity to buy a metro-train-RER ticket at a single rate of €2.50, regardless of the areas used (excluding airports), or a bus-tram ticket at a single rate of €2 regardless of the destination (excluding airports).

Add to my calendar

From 1er January 2025, as a passenger using public transport occasionally and therefore not having a Navigo package, you will be able to buy 2 types of tickets at a single price:

  • metro-train-RER tickets for €2.50, valid on all railway lines (except Orlyval, the airport stations served by the RER B and the Orly airport station on line 14 of the metro), in place of tickets priced between €2.15 and €5 depending on your point of departure and arrival;
  • bus-tram tickets for €2, valid on all tram lines, buses (excluding Orlybus and Roissybus), coaches, Noctilien, long distance buses and transport on demand, in place of tickets at €2.15.

These 2 tickets allow respectively:

  • metro-train-RER connections for a maximum of 2 hours from the first validation;
  • bus-tram connections for a maximum of 1h30 from the first validation (you cannot make a round trip by bus or tram with the same ticket even if you meet the 1h30 deadline, and furthermore you must use a second bus-tram ticket when your journey is not continuous and interrupted by another activity).

If you are traveling by RER and bus, for example, you will need to buy a metro-train-RER ticket and a bus-tram ticket.

Tickets purchased before 1er january 2025 will remain valid until 31 december 2025 and may be used in accordance with the previous regulations.

Please note

If you receive a discounted rate (as a holder of the "large families" card, holder of the disability card...), metro-train-RER tickets are 1.25 € and bus-tram tickets are 1 €.

FYI

As of 1er January 2025, the Liberté+ pass will be deployed throughout the Île-de-France ; it is previously reserved for Paris and the small crown. It is a free subscription in post-payment (it is necessary to provide an RIB and a photo ID). You validate your Liberté+ pass each time you make a trip; each month, your trips are counted and billed to you the following month. Within this pass, starting on 1er January 2025:

  • you will be charged €1.99 (€0.99 if you benefit from the reduced rate) for a journey by metro, train or RER.
  • a bus and tram ride will cost you €1.60 (€0.80 if you benefit from the reduced rate).

With the Liberté+ pass, you will be offered connections when you take the same rail (metro, RER...) and surface (bus, tram, Noctilien...) networks, so you will only pay the price corresponding to the first type of transport you take. During the same day, you can be charged a maximum of 12 €; beyond your trips will be offered. In addition, if you plan to travel more, you can load a Navigo week or Navigo month package for all areas at any time on the same pass.

If you do not wish to give your RIB, you can use instead the Liberté+ pass the Navigo Easy Pass, as is already the case.

What kind of transport can you buy to get to an airport in Paris?

A one-off ticket is also available from 1er January 2025 for public transport to or from Orly Airport or Roissy-Charles-de-Gaulle Airport (in zones 4 and 5 respectively). If you do not have a Navigo package including the area of the airport in question, the Paris Region-Airports ticket of which the price is set at 13 € you can get there or leave by metro, train, RER and Orlyval, whatever your point of departure or arrival in Île-de-France.

FYI

The Paris Visits ticket will be unified as of 1er january 2025, allowing you to travel by public transport throughout the Île-de-France (airports included) at the price of €29.90 for the "1 day" package half price (14,95 €) for children under 10 years old. This title will also be available with:

  • a "2 days" package at €44.45 (€22.20 reduced rate);
  • a 3-day package at €62.30 (€31.15 at reduced rate);
  • a "5 days" package at €76.25 (€38.10 reduced rate).

Currently, this title allows you to travel at will either to Paris (zones 1 to 3) or to the entire Île-de-France (all zones).

Please note

With the installation of these different tickets, from 1er january 2025 different transport tickets disappear, including:

  • T+ ticket books (which can be replaced by the use of the Liberté+ pass);
  • the Navigo young weekend package (as its pricing becomes less attractive with the arrival of new titles);
  • “Long distance” pricing, requiring the validation of 2 tickets (as in some Noctilian and long-distance buses). As of 1er January 2025, a single bus-tram ticket is enough to travel.
