Change address on carte grise

You must change the address on your carte grise following your move. You 1 month to do this. This differs depending on whether your vehicle registration number is AB 123 CD or 123 AB 01. We explain the procedure.

Form AB 123 CD

If your registration is form AB 123 CDcalled Vehicle Registration System (SIV), you must have the address changed on your carte grise. You must do this within one month of your move, even if you wish to sell your vehicle.

This is the 1st, 2nd or 3rd change of address since obtaining SIV registration

You must request the production of a label. This will indicate your new address.

It is no longer possible to apply to the prefecture or sub-prefecture: the label application must be made on the internet.

You can use online service to change addresses on the internet, which allows the Ministry of the Interior and several public and private bodies to be alerted simultaneously (examples: CPAM: titleContent, Ircantec: titleContent, Caf: titleContent, The Post Office, Pôle emploi...)

Change carte grise address

A digital copy device (scanner, digital camera, smartphone or tablet equipped with a photo function) is required.

You must have (or create) an ANTS user account.

You can register your process at any time, but you must complete it later, especially if you change it, with the following information:

  • Vehicle Registration
  • Your new address (the old address will be pre-filled)

You must have a digital copy (photo or scan) of a proof of domicile to your new address.

If a third party does this for you, they must have a digital copy of the mandate signed and identification.

You monitor the progress of its implementation online.

You will have to pay the cost of the routing fee (€2.76).

If you do not have the necessary computer equipment and/or if you have difficulties with the Internet

You must ask for a new carte grise.

It is no longer possible to apply to the prefecture or sub-prefecture: it has to be done on the internet.

  • Folder Number
  • Acknowledgement of your application
  • Provisional Certificate of Registration (ICC), which you must print. The CPI allows you to move for 1 month only in France, waiting to receive your carte grise.

You will receive the final carte grise under secure at home a time limit that may vary.

Keep the old carte grise for 5 years. After that, destroy it.
