The accommodation centre for disabled workers provides accommodation and support for adults with disabilities who are engaged in a professional activity. In order to be admitted, you must be recognised as a disabled worker by the Committee on the Rights and Autonomy of Persons with Disabilities (CDAPH). The shelter is often attached to a work-related institution or service (Esat). It's not medicalized.

The accommodation centre for disabled workers is intended for the accommodation and support of adults with disabilities who are engaged in a professional activity.

This type of accommodation may vary in terms of its accommodation formula (ranging from the specific and autonomous building to small groups of accommodation in ordinary housing). It can also vary depending on the accompaniment that can leave a more or less important part to autonomy.

The shelter is often attached to a establishment or service of assistance through work (Esat).

It's not medicalized. Medical care, if needed, is provided by liberal doctors.

In order to be admitted to a shelter for disabled workers, you must meet the following conditions:

You must also be a French citizen or a national of the European Economic Area (EEA) or have a valid residence permit if you are a foreign national.

You must apply to the departmental house for disabled persons (MDPH) in your department.

Depending on the department, this can be done directly online or by mail.

The Committee on the Rights and Autonomy of Persons with Disabilities (CDAPH) then meets to consider the application and make a decision on your orientation to a shelter.

Its response usually takes place within 4 months of the date of filing of your application.

If no reply is received after 4 months, your request is considered to be rejected.

Once you have received a favourable response from the CDAPH, you can apply directly to a shelter for disabled workers. A list of these structures is available from your town hall.

Who shall I contact

If you do not agree with the decision of the CDAPH regarding your application, you must in 1to time to make a prior appeal to her.

To do so, you must send a letter to the HRC explaining why you disagree with its decision. You must attach the letter informing you of the decision. You can attach additional parts if you think it necessary.

You can mail your mail by post or drop it at your DPH's front desk.

Who shall I contact

The CDAPH has 2 months to respond to you after receiving your mail.

If you still do not agree with the CDAPH decision, you can challenge the decision with the court.

You have 2 months to send a letter to the court after receiving the CDAPH response to your prior appeal.

You must attach the mail received following your prior appeal to the CDAPH.

You can mail your mail by post or drop it at the court reception.

Your accommodation fee is based on your resources.

However, a minimum income is left at your disposal.

This minimum income is equivalent to the amount of resources you receive from your work or assimilated (vocational training or vocational rehabilitation or unemployment benefits).

This amount left at your disposal must be at least equal 50% Adult Disability Allowance (AAH), or 478.33 per month.

The minimum income left at your disposal is increased by 20% the amount of the HAA, or 191.33 if you take at least 5 of the main meals in a week outside the home.

If you are responsible for a parent during your stay, the minimum income left at your disposal is increased by either of these amounts:

  • 35% the amount of the HAA, or 334.83, if you are married without a child and your spouse does not work for a reason recognised by the HRC
  • 30% the amount of the HAA, or 287.00 by child or ascending dependent
