How are tourist hotels classified?

Verified 20 août 2020 - Directorate for Legal and Administrative Information (Prime Minister)

The tourist hotel can be ranked (in the number of stars), regardless of the number of rooms. Classification is not required. It takes place at the request of the hotel operator. The hotel may also have a label.

The hotels are classified in 5 categories from 1 to 5 stars.

The award of stars is based on the assessment of the following 3 main criteria:

  • Quality of comfort of the equipment
  • Quality of services offered in the establishments
  • Good practices in respect of the environment and the reception of disabled guests
