If you are European and come to study in France, you do not need a residence permit to live in France. However, you can request a residence card.

The first 5 years of stay

  • Home information: provided by any means
  • 1 photos identity
  • 1 proof of study follow-up: certificate of registration in a registered institution or your student card
  • 1 health insurance certificate: attestation of insurance cover for sickness and, where appropriate, maternity costs (for the 1re year of stay, the European Health Insurance Card or the European Continuity of Care form in the country of origin may be accepted)
  • 1 resource credential: declaration or any other equivalent means left to your choice to ensure that you have sufficient resources for yourself and, possibly, your family

The validity period of the card is equivalent to the remaining period of time for the graduation prepared by the student. It may not exceed 5 years..

You must apply for a renewal within 2 months of the expiry date of your residence card. The approach is the same as for the 1re request.
