Verified 07 April 2021 - Legal and Administrative Information Directorate (Prime Minister)

Green Number

It refers to 10-digit numbers beginning with 0 800 to 0 805 and 4-digit numbers beginning with 30 and 31.

The call and service are free.

Gray Number

A call costs the same as a regular local call to a landline based on your operator's rates. It is included in your package if your offer so provides.

The service is free, whether the call is made from a landline or a mobile phone.

Purple Number (or Magenta)

A call costs the same as a regular local call to a landline based on your operator's rates. It is included in your package if your offer so provides.

A paying service €0.15 the minute is added to the cost of the call, whether the call is made from a landline or a mobile phone. This cost will be recorded directly on your invoice.

The cost announcement is made at the very beginning of the call (you can hear an announcement of type:

After the beep, the call will be charged X euros per minute

). The call then begins to be billed after the announcement.

FYI

there is reverse directory to know the price of each special issue.

Overcharged numbers: how do you spot them?

A call to a premium rate number is charged in addition to your subscription.

The fixed rate is variable. It must be stated at the beginning of each call.

Numbers that can be overtaxed are in one of the following formats:

  • 10-digit numbers starting with 08
  • 4-digit numbers starting with 3 or 10
  • 6-digit numbers starting with 118

The rate announcement must be made at the beginning of your call. If not, then it is an illegal practice.
