Leave for Death of a Relative in the Public Service

Regardless of your civil service, you may be granted leave of absence when a relative dies. We present you with the information you need to know.
What applies to you ?
State Civil Service (EPF)
Some authorities grant special leave to leave upon the death of a relative.
There is no common text between the different administrations setting the number of days that can be granted.
Check with your human resources department to find out what rules apply in your employer jurisdiction.
You benefit from a special leave of absence when a child dies.
You have this permission as you are official or contract.
This leave of absence may not be refused by your employer administration.
This leave entitlement does not affect your vacation leave entitlements and does not reduce your vacation days.
The length of absence varies depending on whether the deceased child is over 25 or under or was a parent.

Child under 25
If your deceased child was under 25 years of age, the duration of the special leave shall be 14 working days.
You may also be granted special permission toadditional 8-day absence, which may be divided and taken within 1 year of death.
These leave authorizations are granted upon the death of a child of which you were a parent and upon the death of a child or adult under the age of 25 for whom you had or had permanent effective care.
Child 25 years of age or older
If your deceased child was aged 25 years or over, the duration of the special leave shall be 12 working days.
Child himself parent
If your the deceased child was a parent himself, the duration of the special leave shall be 14 working days no matter how old your child is.
You can also benefit from a special 8-day supplementary leave, which may be divided and taken within 1 year of death.
These leave authorizations are granted upon the death of a child of which you were a parent and upon the death of a child of which you have had effective and permanent care.
Territorial (FPT)
Some communities grant special absentee permits when a loved one dies.
