A street business is an activity that consists of selling your services or products on a road trip in different places in the public space. It can be a take-out or take-out (called food truck). You need to apply for the mobile merchant card and a temporary public space occupancy authorization (AOT). You must register your company at RNE: titleContent.

A trade is said traveling when it involves selling your services or products in one or more different places in the public space.

You exercise this itinerant trade outside your business premises or in a location different from your business address.

Examples:

  • Catering to take away in public (called food truck)
  • Mobile pizza truck
  • Fair (merchant or traveling attraction fair)
  • Stand on a trade show or fair (agricultural show, etc.)

Warning  

trade says traveling does not correspond to a door-to-door activity, it is then a question of door-to-door selling or door-to-door seller, press hawker, etc.

You have a fixed business premises

You have a fixed business premises where you sell products or services to customers.

Your business address is then the property of your fixed business premises.

In parallel, you sell outside your commercial premises in a mobile shop (truck, stand, etc.).

Example :

you are a restaurateur with a fixed restaurant and you also travel with a restaurant truck either to a market or to a public place.

You do not have a fixed business premises

You're in the so-called business traveling by selling your services or products in one or more locations different from your business address for service.

In this case, your business address is usually the same as your home.

You are traveling from one place of sale to another place of sale. Or you're selling to a place that's always the same.

Example :

You have a pizza truck that moves from one place to another (or always placed in the same place), without having a fixed pizzeria.

Warning  

if you don't have a permanent home for your personal home, please note that the circulation book and deposit receipt have been deleted.

You have to determine the nature of your business (craft, commercial, liberal, agricultural or industrial).

Then you need to choose the legal form of your company (business individual business or auto(micro) entrepreneur).

You need to verify that you are filling out the criteria for becoming a trader or for to become a craftsman.

Please note

The status of self-employed (micro)-entrepreneur is for all types of activity (commercial, craft, liberal, etc.) and requestscarry out special formalities.

If you are an artisan or artisan-trader, you must register with the RNE: titleContent as a company in the trades and crafts sector.

If you are a merchant, you must register with the SCR: titleContent.

You must complete your company registration process on the company formalities office.

Warning  

Since 1er january 2023, it is no longer possible to carry out your procedures in a company Formalities Center (CFE). You must make them on the website of the company formalities office.

The requirement to have the itinerant business card varies according to your activity and your movements.

You move outside your local administrative area

You must have the itinerant trading card.

This card allows you to travel outside the municipality of your business address for service.

If you hire an employee who travels with or without you, they must have a copy of your card.

The card is valid for 4 years.

It costs €30.

Warning  

For the street sale of alcohol, the street trading card is not enough. You must have a sales license take away. The mobile sale of strong alcohols (rum, vodka, whisky, etc.) is prohibited. If you sell alcohol after 10pm, you must have had specific training.

How to apply for the card?

You must complete Form 14022.

You must send it (by email, by mail or on site) to the CCI: titleContent for traders, at the CMA: titleContent for craftsmen or craftsmen-traders.

The card is valid for 4 years.

You have to do yourself the application for renewal.

The request is made from1 month before the expiry date from validity until 2 months after this date. If you exceed this time limit, you must reapply.

The waiting time to receive the new card is 15 days.

You can request a temporary card during the waiting period. To do this, you must return the old card.

You only move within your municipality

  • Rural Bread Tours: a baker who has his own bakery and who also tours homes
  • Rural grocery store tours: a grocer who has his own grocery store and who also tours homes
  • Home Repair (Electrician, Telephone, Computer, etc.)
  • Home Seller
  • Sales Representative (VRP)
  • Press hawker

You are an artist and sell your works on the public highway

You don't need the street trading card.

You must have a road permission or parking permit.

You get it from the city hall.
