Confinement / Curfew: which shops are open or closed?

Due to the curfew from 7pm to 6am and the confinement, many shops and establishments are closed. Some shops and activities are possible during the day between 6am and 7pm and during the curfew.

Establishment and trade

The following businesses and facilities are permitted to continue their operations and accommodate the public during a period of confinement between 6 a.m. and 7 p.m.:

  • General Power Store and Supermarket
  • Multi-store (for sale of toiletries, hygiene, maintenance and childcare products)
  • Supermarkets and hypermarket (for sale of toiletries, hygiene, maintenance and childcare products)
  • Another sales shop with a surface area of more than 400 m2 can accommodate the public only for the activities mentioned in the IV. Establishments that receive public attention pursuant to the preceding sentence may also receive public attention for the sale of toiletries, hygiene, maintenance and childcare products.
  • In an open or covered market, food trade or sale of plants, flowers, seeds, fertilisers, seeds and plants of fruit or vegetable species
  • Group Hostel
  • Tourist Residence
  • Residential tourist village
  • Holiday village and family holiday home
  • Campground and caravan
  • Court Room
  • Sales room
  • Crematorium and funeral chamber
  • Library, Archives and Documentation Centre
  • Park, garden and other green spaces in urban areas
  • Beach, water and lake
  • Establishment of worship

  FYI : the prefect, after seeking the mayor's opinion, may decide to prohibit the opening of markets or religious establishments if the conditions for opening them are not met.

Establishment located in a shopping centre

The following stores may continue to receive from the public during the 6 to 19 hour containment period:

  • Retail trade of frozen products
  • General food trade
  • Supernets
  • Supermarkets
  • Multi-store stores whose main business is food sales
  • Hypermarkets
  • Retail sale of fruit and vegetables in specialised stores
  • Retail trade of meat and meat products in specialised stores
  • Retail sale of fish, crustaceans and molluscs in specialised stores
  • Retail sale of bread, pastries and confectionery in specialised stores
  • Bakery and bakery
  • Other food retail stores in specialised stores
  • Retail sale of pharmaceuticals in specialised stores

  • Retail sale of bread, pastries and confectionery in specialised stores
  • Bakery and bakery
  • Retail sale of beverages in specialised stores
  • Other food retail stores in specialised stores
  • Retail sale of fuels and fuels in specialised stores, shops associated with these stores for the sale of takeaway food, and sanitary equipment open to road users
  • Retail trade of information and communication equipment in specialised stores
  • Retail sale of computers, peripheral units and software in specialised stores

  • Repair of computers and communication equipment
  • Repair of computers and peripheral equipment
  • Repair of communication equipment
  • Supply for agricultural holdings
  • Maintenance, repair and technical inspection of motor vehicles, vehicles, machinery and agricultural equipment

The following shops and establishments may remain open at any time.

Activity

The following activities may continue during curfew hours (between 7 PM and 6 AM):

  • Technical maintenance, repair and control of motor vehicles, vehicles, machinery and agricultural equipment
  • Supply for agricultural holdings
  • Food distribution by charities
  • Rental and leasing of motor vehicles
  • Rental and leasing of agricultural machinery and equipment
  • Rental and leasing of machinery and equipment for construction
  • Public health, safety, transport and solidarity services open at night
  • Transportation Services
  • All activities in reserved areas of airports
  • Funeral Services
  • Adapted holidays organised

Closed establishments

Completely closed

The following establishments may not receive or carry on any activity:

  • Establishment and trade with a useful commercial area of 20 000 m or more2
  • A commercial establishment for exhibitions, exhibitions or trade shows of a temporary nature
  • Thermal establishment
  • Establishment offering body maintenance activities during which continuous wearing of the mask is possible
  • Tents, capitals and structures, except for the activity of professional artists
  • Dance rooms and game rooms
  • Museum, room for cultural exhibitions (scientific, technical or artistic, etc.), of a temporary nature
  • Holiday

Closed establishment that can provide delivery or room service

The following establishments cannot accommodate a public service except for delivery or room service:

  • Restaurant and drink
  • Floating establishment for its catering and beverage flow
  • High altitude restaurant
  • Hotel, for areas dedicated to catering and drinking activities

  FYI : these establishments may also have a take-away activity between 6 a.m. and 7 p.m.

Closed establishment that can carry out a catering activity for road transport professionals

The following establishments may not accommodate a public service except for the purpose of catering for road transport professionals:

  • Restaurant and drink
  • Floating establishment for its catering and beverage flow
  • High altitude restaurant
  • Hotel, for areas dedicated to catering and drinking activities

Indoor or outdoor sports facilities

Covered sports establishment

The sports establishments covered cannot accommodate a public, except for the following activities:

  • Activity of professional and high level athletes
  • Sports activity participating in university or vocational training and, except for their physical and sporting activities, extracurricular groups, school groups
  • Physical activity of persons who have a medical prescription for the practice of an adapted physical activity or who have a disability recognised by the departmental house of disabled persons
  • Continuous training or training required to maintain professional skills;
  • Activities for minors only, except physical and sporting activities
Outdoor sports facilities

Outdoor sports facilities cannot accommodate the public except for the following activities:

  • Activity of professional and high level athletes
  • Sports activity participating in university or vocational training and, except for their physical and sporting activities, extracurricular groups, school groups
  • Physical activity of persons who have a medical prescription for the practice of an adapted physical activity or who have a disability recognised by the departmental house of disabled persons
  • Continuous training or training required to maintain professional skills;
  • Activities for minors only, except physical and sporting activities
  • Physical and sports activity of extracurricular groups
  • Physical and sports activities for minors only
  • Physical and sports activities of adults, except for collective and combat sports

  FYI : a racetrack can only accommodate the people needed to organise horse races without a public.

Audience rooms, conference rooms, meeting rooms, entertainment rooms or multi-use rooms

The auditoriums, conference rooms, meeting rooms, entertainment rooms or multi-use rooms cannot accommodate a public except for the following activities and persons:

  • Activity of professional artists
  • School groups, only in multi-use rooms;
  • Pre-school groups and supervised activities exclusively for minors, only in rooms with multiple use and with the exception of physical and sports activities
  • Continuous or vocational training or training required for the maintenance of professional skills, only in multi-use rooms
