Whereas, since the 1ster january 2017, automotive professionals must offer a re-use part instead of a new part for the maintenance or repair of the vehicle of their customers (who can accept or refuse it), an order that comes into force from 1er april 2019 sets out how to inform customers about the prices and conditions of sale of these circular economy coins.
More specifically, this Order published in Official Journal of 12 October 2018 provides that:
the consumer is clearly informed of his right to opt for circular economy coins;
the consumer has all the information necessary to make an informed choice, in particular as regards the price and origin of the parts (parts recycled by approved end-of-life vehicle centers or parts refurbished in accordance with the specifications drawn up by manufacturers under the name ‘standard exchange’).
FYI
The purpose of this decree is to implement Article L224-67 of the Consumer Code, according to which any trader who markets services for the maintenance or repair of motor vehicles allows consumers to opt for the use, for certain categories of spare parts, of circular economy parts instead of new ones.
