"Cash back": how many euros can we give you in change?

A decree of 24 December 2018 specifies that the minimum purchase amount made under this framework is fixed at €1, the maximum amount which the trader may return to the customer being fixed at €60. This service can only be provided at the request (made before payment) of the customer acting for non-business purposes. Payments by check may not give rise to the provision of cash.

Withdrawing cash from supermarket checkouts at the time of purchase is already widespread in Europe, where this use of troubleshooting, according to a study by the European Central Bank published in November 2017, represents about 7% of the total withdrawals, transactions with bank machines approaching 40%.
