Since 2010, fireworks must be marked and comply with relevant standards. They should also be accompanied by information in French, including age limits and instructions for use.

Municipal or prefectural bylaws may prohibit the sale of F1 fireworks to unaccompanied minors or restrict the sale, transport and wearing of such fireworks by private individuals for certain periods.
