Motorcycle Code, Practical Tray or Circulation Tests: The 3 Motorcycle License Examination Tests are evolving to further train future motorcyclists in safety. The reform concerns applicants for a1 license (license 125 or light motorcycle) or a2 license (intermediate power motorcycle, not exceeding 35 kW).
The motorcycle license is carried out in 3 stages:
a theoretical test specific to the motorcycle license;
a practical out-of-circulation test (dit
tray
);
a practical test in circulation.
A profoundly renewed test: the creation of a motorcycle “code”
The test of the code is no longer the same as for future motorists. Candidates will now have to take a specific test: the
motorcycle examination
(ETM). The 40 questions in still image or video format focus on the rules of the road and driving of a motorcycle and on the good behavior of the driver.
The examination shall be held in one of the examination centers of the recognized organizations.
35 of the 40 questions must be answered correctly in order to obtain the exam. Once obtained, the ETM is valid for 5 years within the limit of 5 passes of the practical test.
Please note
of 1er March to December 31, 2020, applicants registered for A1 or A2 licenses before 1er march 2020 do not have to pass the motorcycle code:
if they passed the code before 1er March 2020;
or if they are exempt from passing the code for having obtained a category of driving license between March 2015 and March 2020.
A short and continuous practical out-of-circulation (plateau) test
Oral questioning and technical checks are removed due to the creation of the ETM (above). The test now lasts 10 minutes. It has a unique course of 6 maneuvers that follow one after the other:
move the motorcycle without the help of the motor;
move the speed-reduced motorcycle without a passenger;
perform emergency braking;
move the speed-reduced motorcycle with passenger;
Perform a slalom.

The scoring is carried out over the whole of the plate examination.
The candidate has 3 attempts to carry out the movement of the motorcycle without the aid of the engine and 2 tests for dynamic maneuvers. Any fall is eliminatory.
A practical test in circulation (CIR) more oriented towards the safety of the rider
The circulating test is prolonged and lasts 40 minutes. It is now a question of checking the candidate's ability to adapt his or her trajectory in order to circulate safely, without embarrassing, without surprising and without being surprised.
To get a favorable result, you have to have 21 points out of 27 and not make a eliminatory error. The test in circulation shall be accessible only if the candidate has validated the test out of circulation.
