In the context of the health situation created by the coronavirus, the President of the Republic and then the Minister of the Interior announced the postponement of the second round of municipal elections initially scheduled for March 22, 2020.
In the first round of municipal elections held on 15 March 2020, the election was won in more than 30,000 municipalities. In 3,253 municipalities, the municipal council was partially filled. In 1,669 municipalities, no municipal council was elected. A second round is therefore necessary for around 5 000 municipalities (read more about Vie-publique.fr).
