As the new 2021 baccalaureate looms, the Ministry of National Education, Youth and Sports is releasing figures from the 2020 session marked by a record number of bachelors. Success gaps by track, gender, status and age of applicants are smaller than in previous years.
760 800 candidates completed their bachelor's degree in 2020, 1 700 more than in 2019 (+ 0.2%). For candidates who attended school during 2019-2020, the tests were fully validated on a continuous basis due to the health emergency.
The final results of the 2020 baccalaureate session published on March 4, 2021 by the ministry take into account the notes of two groups:
pupils enrolled in school and scored in evaluations carried out during the year and candidates for the remedial tests;
out-of-control candidates attending the replacement session in September 2020.
According to the Ministry's Directorate of Evaluation, Prospective and Performance (Depp), more candidates were allowed to attend the replacement session (in particular those from distance learning and individual candidates) (read more about Vie-publique.fr).
