Are people entitled to unemployment benefits if they resign?

Since resignation is a voluntary breach of contract on the part of the employee, it does not entitle him to unemployment benefits. Among the main resignations eligible for unemployment benefits

Resignation for personal reasons:

• You want to follow your partner who has to move for professional reasons (transfer, change of employer, return to work after a period of unemployment, creation or resumption of a company or start a self-employed activity). Retirement or training of your spouse is not considered an occupational ground;
• Your marriage or Civil partnership results in a change of residence. The resignation is legitimate provided that this new place is incompatible with your employment and that your resignation occurs less than 2 months before and up to 2 months after the date of your union;
• Your disabled child has been admitted to a remote reception facility and this requires you to move to a place incompatible with your employment.

Resignation for professional reasons:

• You are under the age of 18 and you break your employment contract to follow your ascendants or the person exercising parental authority;
• You are 18 years of age or older, you are placed under legal, guardianship or guardianship, and you terminate your employment contract to follow the parent designated as a special agent, guardian or guardian;
• You have been employed for less than 3 months after losing your previous job without having been registered in Pôle emploi in the meantime;
• Your employer terminates your probationary period or contract within the first 3 months after you previously resigned from your job. You will be eligible for unemployment benefits if you have worked for at least 3 years without any interruption.
