Participation in a prohibited demonstration on public roads is now punishable by a fine of €135 (contravention of 4e class). That is what is stated in an order in council issued in Official Journal of 21 March 2019.
Fines notified by the police (police officers or gendarmes) are:
€11 for a contravention of 1era class;
€35 for a contravention of 2e class;
€68 for a contravention of 3e class;
€135 for a contravention of 4e class.
This fixed amount may nevertheless be reduced or increased, depending on the payment period.
Please note
This flat-rate fine must be paid within 45 days (60 days in the case of payment by teleprocedure).
If payment is made within 15 days (30 days in the case of teleprocedure), the amount of the fine is reduced.
If payment is not made within 45 days (60 days in the case of teleprocedure), the fine is increased.
In the event of non-payment of the increased lump sum fine, the State Treasury may initiate legal proceedings.
