Forgot to file your tax return and the deadline has passed? You can file late but your taxes will be increased by at least 10%.
The absence or delay in the filing of income is the subject of sanctions with an increase in the amount of your taxes by:
10% if you self-declare before receiving the formal notice;
20% if you declare within 30 days of the formal notice;
40% in the absence of a declaration within 30 days of the formal notice;
80% if the administration discovers that you are engaged in undeclared work or illegal activity, without sending a formal notice.
In addition, late payment interest may also be applied to you. Since 1er January 2018, they amount to 0.20% by month of delay (either 2.4% per year). Such interest shall apply until the last day of the month in which the declaration is lodged.
FYI
If you are not taxable, you must file a tax return that will allow you to obtain a notice of non-taxation, which is useful for certain administrative procedures. In case of delay, no surcharge or interest can be applied to you since the amount of the sum you owe is equal to €0.
