In case of difficulty repaying your mortgage don't wait for debt to accumulate before making arrangements, especially during periods of unemployment, disability or death. Indeed, there are several solutions to deal with it:
The use of mortgage insurance: Monthly payments may be covered by this insurance if this is provided for in the contract.
The request for a delay in payment to the lender shall: You can request a payment deadline from your bank in a registered letter. It will be subject to an amendment to the initial loan contract.
The request for
grace period
before the court of first instance: Refunds can be suspended for up to 2 years (the
grace period
) without giving rise to surcharges or penalties for delay. To do this, you need to go to the court of first instance after having compiled a file containing the documents proving the difficulties encountered (resources, charges and reimbursements in progress in particular). This applies in particular in the event of difficulties connected with dismissal.
Filing a debt distress case: You can apply to the commission for over-indebtedness of individuals by sending a file to the commission of your department which will study your situation.
