Pound reform: when will my department be involved?

The main changes are:

• Each vehicle impounded is now the subject of a new, more detailed descriptive sheet including in particular the state of the vehicle (good condition, degraded, serious damage) and two drawings of the vehicle bearing the symbols of the apparent damage (scratches, setbacks, breakages). It is drawn up by the judicial police officer (OPJ) or the deputy judicial police officer, if possible in the presence of the owner or driver. This sheet shall be added to the minutes and to the circulation sheet.
• The vehicle is no longer the subject of an automotive expertise as it was used 4 days after it was impounded.
• An impounded vehicle in poor condition shall be considered abandoned:
  
  • if its market value is deemed to be insufficient. That value shall be established taking into account its technical characteristics, the date of first entry into service and, where appropriate, the reasons for impoundment. Previously, its value had to be less than €765 ;
  • after 10 days from the notice given to the owner to withdraw his vehicle + 1 working day.
  
  The judicial police officer (OPJ) always has the option of withdrawing the vehicle registration certificate as a precautionary measure (e.g. if the vehicle is damaged).
• If the owner has not been able to retrieve his vehicle within the allotted time, he can always pick it up until the estates have sold it. In this case, he will have to pay the selling fees, capped at €100 for a private car and €50 for a two-wheeler, in addition to the other costs.
