Speed limit at 80 or 90 km/h: what the law on mobility says

The possibility of increasing from 80 km/h to 90 km/h concerns sections of roads outside built-up areas with two-way traffic (without central separator).

This decision can be taken by the president of the departmental council, by the mayor or by the president of the public establishment of intercommunal cooperation (when the latter hold the power of traffic police).

This decision takes the form of a decree adopted after consulting the Departmental Road Safety Committee, on the basis of an accident study covering each of the road sections concerned.
