Exchange of a European permit: an online approach from 3 March 2020

The online service is accessible with FranceConnect or with your ANTS credentials (if you do not have one, you are offered to set up an account to have a personal space on the ANTS website).

To do the online process, you will need the following documents (photographed or scanned):

• two-sided color image of the original driving license;

• proof of identity ;
• recent proof of domicile (less than 6 months);
• digital photo-signature ;
• if you have a heavy goods vehicle license: medical advice of fitness to drive heavy categories, or declaration of waiver of heavy categories;
• if your license has been canceled or suspended: decision of cancelation or suspension + letter informing of the obligation of exchange sent by the prefecture + medical opinion;
• if your license has been lost or stolen: theft or loss report;

• if you are European (Swiss, Monegasque, British, citizen of a State of the European Economic Area): a proof of civil status with your birth name and a proof of normal residence in France (for example, rental contract, employment contract, proof of social security, tax notice...);
• if you are a citizen of another country: proof of legal residence in France (residence permit or Ofii sticker affixed to your passport).

Depending on the complexity of your case, the processing time can take several months. You will be contacted for the delivery of the original license against a deposit certificate that will allow you to drive while waiting to receive your French driving license.

The French license will be sent to your home.
