Large Family Card

The large family card is intended for families with at least 3 children. It provides discounts on train travel and some benefits from partners. The card is renewable under certain conditions.
First request
The card is given if your family includes at least 3 children under 18 years of age whose care you have (total or alternate).
It is also awarded if you are an adult who has had or raised at least 5 children.
A reconstituted family can benefit from the large family card. In this case, the children considered are those in the following situation:
- Children of each member of the couple on condition that he has custody of them (and on condition that he can justify a judgment, e.g. a divorce judgment determining the residence of the children in their homes)
- Children born in the new union

Discounts
The large family card allows you to benefit from discounts on the price of tickets SNCF: titleContent..

Card can be used in 1re and 2nest class, but the discount is always calculated on the standard leisure or normal rate of 2nest class.
In the Paris region, under certain conditions, a large family card allows you to benefit from a discount of 50% on the SNCF network and RATP: titleContent.. To find out about these conditions, you must ask the SNCF or the RATP.

The time limit for issuing the card after filing the complete file is approximately 3 weeks.
You have at least 3 minor children
The card is valid for up to 3 years unless the oldest child under age reaches the age of 18 in the years following the application. In this case, the validity date is limited to the child's birthday.
You have 5 or more children
The card is valid for 6 years.
Please note
special provisions are made for families of foreign nationality depending on the length of their residence permit. For more information, you should get closer to the SNCF.

Renewal
The card is renewed if the family still has 1 or 2 children.
To renew the card, you must fill out a new file with the same content (form and attachments) as in 1re request.
Please note
the request must be sent no earlier than 3 months before the end date of validity of the current cards.

If the family still has 1 or 2 minor children
The father, the mother and each minor child keep 30% reduction on the SNCF network, but no longer benefit from reduction on the RATP network.
If all children have grown up
The family no longer has the right to a large family card. However, parents with at least 5 children keep for life 30% reduction on the SNCF network and 50% on the RATP network.
In the event of loss or theft of the card, a duplicate may be issued. To do so, the application form for a large family card must be completed again with the following documents:
- Declaration of Loss or Theft of Card, issued by the Police Service or, if not, a signed, dated Statement of Honor stating loss or theft
- Identity photo recent
- Check €19 to the order of the SNCF for the payment of the file costs
All of these documents must be sent to the SNCF's Center for the Treatment of Numerous Families.
