Taxis

Taxi fares are regulated. They are composed of customer care, the price per kilometre travelled and the price per hour. In addition, there are additional charges and surcharges. The fare to certain airports is fixed. A note (invoice) must be given to the customer as soon as the amount of the race reaches a certain amount.

Each vehicle shall be equipped with an illuminated taximeter (or horokilometric metre). This device records the route and indicates the fare and the amount to be paid. The device must be visible to customers.

A light device shall also be attached to the roof of the vehicle.

This device shall be marked

Taxi

and indicate the vehicle's connecting municipality.

If the taxi is free, the light shall be illuminated, visible day and night.

Please note

the taximeter and the roof lighting system shall be systematically checked during the annual technical inspection of the vehicle.

Taxi fares include capped fares and surcharges in some cases.

Airport passes are available in some cities.

FYI  

the new tariffs come into force on the 1to February of every year, but the driver has until 1to May to apply them. If a change occurs at another time, the taxi has a delay 2 months to apply the new price list.

Capped rates

The minimum fare for a race is €7.30 for all taxis (Parisian and non-Parisian).

The fare for a taxi ride includes 3 elements:

  • €4.18 maximum for customer support
  • €1.16 maximum per kilometre travelled
  • €37.46 maximum for the price of the hour if the customer is waiting or if the customer has difficulty moving

Increases and Supplements

The price per kilometre travelled shall be increased in the following cases:

  • Race at night (within 50%)
  • Race that requires a return to empty (without a customer) or that serves a peripheral or outside area of the parking authorisation area (within 100%)
  • Running on a snow or ice-covered road (within 50%) if special equipment or snow tyres are used
  • Rush hour race

Increases night race and snowy or icy road race are not cumulative.

No extra, and no increase may be requested from the passenger in the following situations:

  • Support in station, port or airport
  • Wheelchair a person with a disability

For a trip to the Pôle Caraïbes airport (in both directions) and the Grand Maritime Port of Guadeloupe (in both directions), an additional €2.5 applies per passenger from 5.

The amount of the race is known at the end of the journey.

It shall be displayed on the dial of the taximeter in a legible manner for the passenger.

Every year before 1to May, the taxi driver must update his taximeter to include the new fares of the year.

Information on fares must be displayed in the vehicle.

This is the following information:

  • Hourly and kilometric rate
  • Support Amount
  • Amount and conditions of supplements
  • Amount and conditions of packages, if applicable
  • Conditions under which issuance of a note is mandatory or optional
  • Information that the customer can request that the note mention his name, as well as the places where the race starts and ends
  • Information that the customer can pay by credit card
  • Claim Address

A note (invoice) must be given to the customer as soon as the amount of the race reaches €25 all taxes included (including VAT).

This note should include:

  • Date
  • Start and end times
  • Name of service provider or business name
  • Vehicle Registration Number
  • Address to send a possible complaint
  • Prices of the TTC race excluding supplements
  • Total amount to pay TTC included supplements
  • Each of the additional charges
  • Customer name (if requested)
  • Place of departure and arrival of the race (at the request of the customer)

The driver must keep double the mark for 2 years.

Below €25 TTC, the note is optional. However, the customer can request one.

The customer can pay in cash or by credit card whatever the amount.

The driver may only refuse payment by check, provided that this is indicated on the outside window of the vehicle.

The vehicle shall be equipped with 2 appliances:

  • Functional electronic payment terminal
  • Printer, connected to the taximeter, allowing automated editing of the note informing the customer of the total price to pay
