To travel to the foreigner, you need to check the site Travel Tips (entry/stay) what is the identity document required by the country you are visiting.

If you have a valid passport, it is best to use it.

If you don't have a passport, and you go to a country that accepts the identity card, you can apply for an early renewal by filing a proof of upcoming trip.

If the country accepts that the date on your card does not correspond to its actual expiry date, you can submit a translated fact sheet foreign authorities.

FYI

we present you with the procedure to follow for renewal of an identity card for an adult and for a minor.
