What is return assistance?

Return aid may be granted to a foreigner who leaves France to return to his country.

This is material and financial assistance to facilitate reintegration in that country.

The foreigner must return to his country of origin. He can't go to another country.

The return must be voluntary.

General case

You can apply for return aid if you are a foreigner and have resided in France for at least 6 consecutive months.

In addition, you must be in one of the following situations:

You're in Mayotte

You cannot benefit from this assistance.

Warning  

the aid is granted once only. If you have already received this assistance, you cannot ask for it again.

To request return assistance, you must present your project to an advisor at theOfii: titleContent.

Who shall I contact

Composition of aid

Return assistance may include the following:

  • Administrative and material assistance in preparing the journey (booking of air tickets, assistance in obtaining travel documents, transport to the airport)
  • Payment of transport costs
  • Financial assistance, called flat-rate allowancepaid in one installment at the time of departure or in the country of return
  • Exceptionally, a flat-rate supplementary allowance of €150 if the foreigner has or undertakes to obtain a travel document
  • Allowance to facilitate reintegration in the country of return
  • Possibly technical assistance and project monitoring

Warning  

nationals of the European Union, of the European Economic Area, the Swiss Confederation, Andorra, Monaco, San Marino or the Vatican shall not be eligible for the lump-sum allowances.

Amount of the lump sum allowance

The amount of the financial allowance depends on the country of origin and the number of persons in the same family leaving France.

Some countries are visa-free to enter France.

Please note

Exceptionally, the management of the French Office for Immigration and Integration (Ofii) may decide to grant an increase in this financial aid. The amount of this increase may not exceed €1,200.
