Information to public officials on the conditions for the performance of their duties

Employers' administrations have an obligation to inform their employees of the conditions under which they carry out their duties. We're here to explain what that duty to inform is.

Your employer's administration must provide you with the essential information and rules relating to the performance of your duties.

You should receive at least the following information:

  • Name and address of the administrative authority responsible for your management
  • Your body or job manager and your rank if you are a public servant or your hierarchical category if you are a contractual employee
  • Start date of your duties
  • If applicable, the start date of your probationary or probationary period and its duration
  • In the event of a CSD: titleContent, its duration
  • The place or places where you perform your duties or, if you do not have a fixed or principal place of business, an indication that your duties are performed at more than one place
  • If your duties are performed abroad, mention of the State(s) in which they are performed and the currency used to pay your remuneration and, if applicable, cash or in-kind benefits and repatriation conditions
  • Working hours or working arrangements, rules on the organization of work applicable to you and, where applicable, rules on overtime
  • The amount of your remuneration and the components, periodicity and conditions for payment of your remuneration
  • Paid leave entitlements
  • Training rights
  • Collective agreements relating to your working conditions containing provisions defining regulatory measures
  • Social security organization that collects your social security contributions and social protection schemes
  • Procedures and rights upon termination of service

You will receive this information in one or more installments no later than 7 calendar days according to your 1er working day.

If you are working abroad, you will receive this information prior to your departure. You are told how long you will be posted abroad.

The information is communicated to you by one or more handwritten letters delivered or sent by post. It may also be carried out in electronic form. In this case, you must be able to save and print the documents. And your administration keeps a record of their transmission and receipt.

The information may consist of a simple reference to the applicable laws and regulations in respect of the following subjects:

  • Currency used to pay your compensation
  • Working hours or working arrangements, rules on the organization of work applicable to you and, where applicable, rules on overtime
  • The amount of your remuneration and the components, periodicity and conditions for payment of your remuneration
  • Paid leave entitlements
  • Training rights
  • Social security organization that collects your social security contributions and social protection schemes
  • Procedures and rights upon termination of service

If your situation changes and requires a change in information, you will receive this new information no later than the effective date of your change in situation.

The administrative authority responsible for your management communicates the information.

If you are seconded to a public post, the administrative authority responsible for the post you hold may communicate information on that post and on the duration of the secondment.

If you are made available, the contract of making available specifies the administrative authority that must provide you with information about your job and the duration of the making available.

If one or more information has not been communicated to you within 7 calendar days according to your 1er on the working day, you can ask the administrative authority responsible for your management to provide you with this information at any time.

If you were appointed or recruited before 1er september 2023 and if you have not received one or more information that must be provided in writing from that date, you can request it at any time from the administrative authority that manages you.
