PsyChildTeen: free psychological support for 3-17 year olds
Publié le null - Directorate for Legal and Administrative Information (Prime Minister)
The health crisis has had a detrimental impact on the mental and psychological health of young people under the age of 18, who are particularly affected by anxiety or depressive symptoms. The Emergency Psychological Support Device , launched in early June 2021, is aimed at children and adolescents aged 3 to 17 inclusive with mild to moderate psychological distress. It provides for the 100% up to 10 sessions with a psychologist. The scheme was initially scheduled to run until 31 October 2021 and is being extended until 31 December 2021.
Who are the beneficiaries?
The Psychological Support Device PsyEnfantAdo concerns:
- children and adolescents aged 3 to 17 inclusive;
- beneficiaries of State sickness insurance or medical aid;
- whose mental health has been affected by the health crisis and who have:
- visible changes in behavior and/or mental state giving rise to concern on the part of those around them (family, school environment, general practitioner, pediatrician, maternal and child protection service (PMI), etc.);
- mild to moderate psychic distress without signs of severity.
How to benefit?
To benefit from the sessions fully covered by the PsyEnfantAdo device's Health Insurance, you must first consult a doctor (doctor treating the child, hospital doctor, school doctor, PMI doctor...). The doctor, in agreement with the parents and the child concerned, shall, if he considers it necessary, provide psychological support with a psychologist participating in the scheme. The prescription drawn up by the doctor is necessary in order to be able to take charge of the sessions, without any advance payment.
After consulting the doctor, you can make an appointment with one of the psychologists partners of the device, whose list you can consult on psyenfantado.santé.gouv.fr.
The doctor will be able to refer children and adolescents to a psychologist of the device until December 31, 2021 (date indicated on the prescription). However, the sessions will be open until January 31, 2022.
Under the scheme, children and adolescents can receive up to 10 sessions of psychological support, which are fully supported. This package is not renewable.
Psychologic support begins with an initial assessment interview by the psychologist, who, depending on the needs of the child or adolescent, will offer 1 to 9 sessions of psychologic counseling. The sessions can also be conducted remotely, by telephone or by video, in agreement with the person concerned and the parents.
Please note
It is possible to change psychologist, but only after the first session said . Once the sessions of psychological support have started you can no longer change psychologist except in case of cessation of activity of the latter. The child or adolescent is free to stop the sessions if he or she so wishes. Just tell the psychologist.
