Parents are made aware of the need to adapt their children's clothing and to provide them with protective accessories (caps, sunglasses, sunscreen), to make them drink regularly, to adapt the diet avoiding foods too fat or too sweet to prevent dehydration...

Instructions to be implemented in buildings

  • use the least exposed premises to accommodate pupils in spaces protected from heat;
  • keep blinds or shutters closed when the facade is sunny;
  • Limit the opening of windows
  • allow rooms to be refreshed by opening windows at night when possible;
  • in the case of mechanical ventilation, ensure good air renewal and activate the night-time mode of superventilation;
  • if a room is air-conditioned, use it as a safe room.

Instructions in case of a hot episode

  • give the pupils regular water and invite them to wet their skin;
  • Reduce physical activity and eliminate outings during the hottest hours.
  • be particularly vigilant towards people and pupils with respiratory diseases or disabilities;
  • when taking drugs, people should check storage conditions and side effects by seeking advice from National Education doctors and nurses;
  • be particularly attentive to any signs of deterioration in health (great weakness, great tiredness, dizziness, vertigo, disturbance of consciousness, nausea, vomiting, muscle cramps, etc.) in order to take the necessary preventive measures and to report to the health personnel of the establishment or to call for medical assistance (SAMU 15) in case of heat stroke.

Behaviors to adopt will be displayed in classrooms and in the canteen to inform staff and students.

In case of an outdoor outing

  • avoid prolonged exposure to the sun (walks, physical and sports activities, etc.);
  • ensure that students are appropriately dressed (hat, loose-fitting, light-colored, light-weight clothing covering exposed skin areas, etc.);
  • Ensure students drink plenty of fluids, avoiding sugary drinks and iced water;
  • use sunscreen (high protection factor);
  • ensure that a child can eventually be taken to a cool place;
  • during discovery classes, ensure that tents are located in the shade and that students do not stay there during the heat.

Guidelines for examination tests (Bachelor's degree, certificate)

In addition to the protection measures already set out to be respected:

  • ensure that examination rooms remain protected from heat;
  • ensure that candidates have access to drinking water, allow candidates to leave the room for a drink.
