National Assembly: opening of the 16th legislature on June 28, 2022

The National Assembly elected in the elections of 12 and 19 June 2022 meets for the first time in open session on Tuesday, 28 June 2022 at 3 p.m. This first sitting marks the beginning of the 16th Parliament.

At the sitting of 28 June 2022, Members settled in alphabetical order in the Chamber. After the installation of its Age Bureau, composed of the oldest member assisted by the six youngest members performing the duties of secretaries, the National Assembly heard an address by the oldest member. The Assembly then proceeded, by secret ballot in the rostrum, to the election of its President. Following a second round of voting, Yaël Braun-Pivet was elected President of the National Assembly with 242 votes.
