Advocate: a sharp rise in claims in 2021

The Defender of Rights, established in 2011 to uphold rights and freedoms under article 71-1 of the Constitution, celebrated its 10th anniversary in 2021. The 2021 balance sheet, released on July 5, 2022, has approximately 115,000 claims files, an 18.6% increase in claims from 2020.

Relations with public services, defense of children's rights, fight against discrimination, protection of whistleblowers... The Defender of Rights has many areas of expertise.

The Defender of Rights, Claire Hédon, reminds us, in the introduction to the 2021 annual report, of the many missions of the Defender of Rights. To carry out these tasks, the institution calls on 231 staff and 550 delegates at 870 reception points throughout the country. (Read more about the article).
