ELP: the rate of pay rises to 1.75% as of January 1, 2025

Publié le 18 décembre 2024 - Directorate for Legal and Administrative Information (Prime Minister)

The rate of pay for your Home Savings Plan (HSP) will be 1.75% if you open it after December 31, 2024, compared to 2.25% for HSPs opened in 2024. Service-Public.fr takes stock of the ELP arrangements.

A notice on the rate of pay for housing savings schemes (PELs) has been published in the Official Journal of 18 December 2024. It states that from 1er January 2025 the annual interest rate for ELPs is set at 1.75%, up from 2.25% previously. This decrease in the rate of pay does not affect plans opened before 1er January 2025.

Please note

The rate of pay for a home savings plan is set when it opens. This level of remuneration is then guaranteed throughout its lifetime, unlike a savings book, the rate of which can be revised several times a year. Thus, the annual rate of remuneration applied to housing savings plans is:

  • 2,25 % for ELPs opened between 1er January 2024 and December 31, 2024;
  • 2 % for PELs opened between 1er January 2023 and December 31, 2023;
  • 1 % for PELs opened between 1er August 2016 and December 31, 2022.

The minimum initial payment to be made in order to open an ELP is €225 and subsequent payments should be a minimum of €540 per year (or €45 per month). The minimum duration of an ELP is 4 years, and the maximum duration of an ELP is 10 years. After this deadline, you can no longer make payments to your ELP, but it continues to earn interest for 5 years.

A home savings plan allows you to save money but also to get a home savings loan ; the rate of this loan varies according to the date of opening your ELP.
