Since the Russian offensive in Ukraine on February 24, 2022, the European Union has shown its political will to point the finger firmly at the other side. Russia’s government has been explicitly named as the initiator of the conflict: “Russia’s unprovoked and unjustified war of aggression against Ukraine,” or “invasion,” as European institutions have traditionally defined it.
