Criminal record

How do I make sure that my record does not contain any convictions?

Publié le 31 janvier 2024 - Directorate for Legal and Administrative Information (Prime Minister)

Hadrien wants to run a public service competition. In order to be admitted, the number 2 of his criminal record must be blank. He remembers doing some “minor stupidity” when he was just in his middle years. Hadrien is worried about whether these convictions still appear on his bulletin n°2 and asks us how to ensure that.

Service-Public.fr replies:

You cannot not get a copy Bulletin No. 2 (B2). Only the extract of criminal record (B3, Bulletin No. 3) may be transmitted to its holder.

You can only view content your criminal record.

To do so, you must make a written request to the public prosecutor of the court of your domicile.

The application must be accompanied by proof of identity (national identity card or passport).

You must specify your phone number and address for the enforcement service in your mail.

Upon receipt of your request, the Penal Enforcement Service consults Bulletin No. 1 (B1). If there is no mention, he calls you indicating that it is nil. If a note appears, the registry fixes an appointment for you to read the content.
