Initial and continuing training in the hospital public service (FPH)

Are you recruited without professional qualifications in the hospital public service? You can get training to prepare for this job. Over the course of your career, you can take training to help you maintain or acquire skills, regardless of your job. Your initial and continuing professional training is registered in the training plan of your establishment. We'll lay out the rules for you.

You will receive initial theoretical and practical training if you enter a job without a professional qualification.

The initial theoretical and practical training is designed to prepare for this job.

Your institution will include in the training plan the initial training that it intends to offer you.

In the interest of the service, and after being consulted, you may be obliged to follow the initial vocational training offered.

Objectives of continuing training as part of the training plan

The purpose of continuing training is to guarantee, maintain or improve your knowledge and skills.

The aim is to ensure:

  • Your immediate adaptation to your workstation
  • Your adaptation to the foreseeable evolution of jobs
  • Developing your knowledge or skills and acquiring new ones.

You can also study promoting professional advancement (promotional studies) and leading to:

  • On a diploma
  • Or on a health and social certificate.

These diplomas or certificates accessible through promotional studies are listed by ministerial order.

Finally, you can benefit from conversion training to access:

  • To jobs requiring a new qualification
  • Or to new professional activities.

Institutions shall include in the training plan the training they intend to offer you.

Conditions for access to continuing training under the training plan

You may be required to attend continuing education courses at the request of your institution or on your own initiative.

You benefit from a priority access continuing training if any of the following applies to you :

  • You belong to a body or hold a category C job and you do not have a bachelor's degree
  • You have a disability and you are entitled to the obligation to employ
  • It is established, after consulting the occupational doctor, that you are particularly exposed, in view of your individual professional situation, to a risk of professional wear and tear

When the training you request is provided by your employer institution, you automatically receive it.

If you have more than one course that matches your request, your employing institution may decide to send you the course it provides itself.

At the initiative of your institution

You may be required to attend continuing education courses at the request of your institution.

Please note

If you have not received training under the plan in the last 3 years, you are entitled to take one of these courses.

However, this access may be postponed for a maximum of one year on account of service requirements after the Commission has given its opinion. HEADING: titleContent or the CCP: titleContent.

At your initiative

You can apply for training included in the training plan, subject to service requirements.

Please note

If you have not received training under the plan in the last 3 years, you are entitled to take one of these courses.

Period of continuous training under the training plan

The training included in the training plan shall take place during working time.

However, they may take place, with your written consent, outside working time within the following limits :

  • 50 hours per year for training linked to the foreseeable development of jobs or which contributes to the return to or retention in employment
  • 80 hours per year for training aimed at developing your skills or acquiring new ones.

Accident at work When you take training outside working time with the agreement of your institution, you benefit from the social protection provided in case of

Your refusal to receive training outside working time does not constitute a fault or a ground for punishment.

Your remuneration is helde if you are taking training as part of the training plan during your working time.

If you are following promotional studies or prepare for an examination; or competition, you keep:

  • Your index treatment
  • Your residence allowance
  • Your family treatment supplement
  • Your allowances and bonuses if the total duration of absence during hours of service does not exceed on average one day per week in the year.
