College and high school: educational commission

Is your child not meeting his or her academic obligations or is behaving inappropriately in his or her secondary school? The educational commission then examine his situation and propose educational measures. An education commission exists in every school and in every high school. Here's the information you need to know.

The board examines the situation of a student who does not meet his or her educational obligations or who behaves inappropriately.

the education commission is not a disciplinary council.

If your child is affected, you are informed of the procedure. You may, at your request, be heard by the Commission.

The Commission does not punish your child's behavior. She is looking for an educational solution adapted and personalized to the situation. It makes your child wonder about his or her conduct and the consequences of his or her actions. For example, they may ask for a written commitment to improve their behavior by setting specific goals.

The Education Commission is also consulted when an incident involves several pupils.

It ensures the follow-up of the personalized educational solutions implemented.

It is also involved in preventing and combating the harassment and discrimination in school.

you cannot appeal against a commission decision.

The education commission is chaired by the school head or his representative.

It also includes school staff (including at least one teacher), and at least one student parent.

The composition of the education commission shall be determined by the board of directors. It shall be included in the rules and regulations establishment's.

The head of the school may invite any person he considers relevant to the examination of the file (class delegates, senior education counselor, etc.).

Each member shall keep secret the facts of which he is aware during the meetings of the committee.

The committee shall be convened by the head of establishment in accordance with a procedure laid down in rules and regulations of the establishment.
