What is the Asylum Seeker's Allowance (Ada)?

As an asylum seeker, you are not allowed to work for 6 months. If you are an adult, an Asylum Seeker's Allowance (Asa) may be paid to you. The allowance will be paid if you meet the conditions. The amount depends in particular on your family situation.

Payment Start

The Ada payment only begins after your asylum application has been filed with theOfpra (within a maximum of 21 days after registration of your asylum application).

End of payment

The payment of the Ada ceases:

  • at the end of the month of notification the final decision on your asylum application
  • or when you leave France.

Suspension of payment

Payment of the Ada may be suspended in one of the following cases:

  • You declined a hosting proposal
  • You did not meet the obligation to report to the authorities or you did not go to the personal interviews
  • You have abandoned your place of accommodation without legitimate reason
  • You stop fulfilling the conditions to collect the Ada
  • You do not produce the documents requested of you.

You shall be informed of these possibilities for refusing or suspending payment as soon as the decision to grant such aid is taken.

Withdrawing allocation

Ofii may remove the Ada if you are in one of the following situations:

  • You have concealed some or all of your resources
  • You have provided false information about your family situation
  • You have engaged in violent behavior or serious breaches of the accommodation rules
