Hiring at the end of an internship: what impact on seniority?

In the case of recruitment in the company at the end of an internship carried out during his last year of study, the intern hired may benefit from the advantages linked to seniority. Conditions vary depending on the length of the internship before hiring (at least 2 months or less than 2 months of internship). We present you with the information you need to know.

At least 2 months of internship

If the trainee is hired at the end of the traineeship, the duration of the traineeship shall be taken into account for the opening and calculation of seniority entitlements.

The trainees concerned are those undertaking an initiation, training or further training course and not covered by an employment contract.

These include:

  • Pupils preparing to graduate from technology education
  • Students from IUT
  • Engineering students
  • Students from business and management schools
  • Students pursuing a university degree (bachelor's or master's degree, for example)
  • Pupils from medical and educational centers
  • Pupil lawyers (non-Capa holders)
  • Student architects
  • Pupils from hotel schools
  • Nursing students
  • Students in nursing induction internships in 2e year of medicine or dentistry.

Warning  

this scheme shall not apply to trainees in continuing vocational training or to minors under 16 years of age in company observation period.

Less than 2 months of internship

The duration of the internship is not taken into account for the opening and calculation of seniority entitlements.

However, treaty provisions more favorable conditions may be introduced.

The trainees concerned are those undertaking an initiation, training or further training course and not covered by an employment contract.

These include:

  • Pupils preparing to graduate from technology education

  • Students pursuing a university degree (bachelor's or master's degree, for example)
