How do I calculate a deadline when there is a holiday?
Here's how to calculate a 7-day deadline, depending on whether you're talking about calendar, free, working or working days. In our example, the deadline starts on a Monday and there is a public holiday (Wednesday).
- Deadline counted in calendar day: Monday + Tuesday + Wednesday + Thursday + Friday + Saturday + Sunday
Every day counts.
- Deadline counted in a clear day: Monday + Tuesday + Wednesday even if it is a holiday + Thursday + Friday + Saturday + Monday of the following week.
Postponed to the next day if the 7th day falls on a Saturday, Sunday (as in our example) or a holiday.
- Deadline counted in working day: Monday + Tuesday + Thursday + Friday + Saturday + Monday of next week + Tuesday of next week.
We don't count Sundays or public holidays.
- Deadline counted in working day: Monday + Tuesday + Thursday + Friday + Monday of the following week + Tuesday of the following week + Wednesday of the following week.
There are no public holidays (here Wednesday), Saturdays or Sundays.
A working day is any day of the week except the weekly day of rest (usually Sunday) and any public holiday that is not normally worked.
We count them 6 per week (usually Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday).
The counting of a public holiday during the employee's leave depends on what is usually done in the company: day unemployed person or day worked.
Usually non-working holiday
Example 1 : an employee is on leave from July 12 to 18, 2021, and July 14 is usually unemployed in the company. On July 14 falling on a Wednesday, it is not counted: the employee poses 5 days holidays (Monday 12, Tuesday 13, Thursday 15, Friday 16 and Saturday 17 July).
Example 2 : an employee is on leave from December 20 to 26, 2021, and December 25 is usually unemployed in the company. On December 25 falling on a Saturday, it is not counted: the employee poses 5 days of holidays (Monday 20, Tuesday 21, Wednesday 22, Thursday 23 and Friday 24 December).

Example 2 : An employee is on leave from December 20 to 26, 2021, and December 25 is usually employed in the company. December 25th falling on a Saturday: the employee poses 6 days holidays (Monday 20, Tuesday 21, Wednesday 22, Thursday 23, Friday 24 and Saturday 25 December).
A working day is defined as the days actually worked in a company or administration (typically Monday to Friday inclusive), excluding any public holidays that are usually not worked.
Some shops are open on Saturday and closed on Monday. Their working days will therefore be from Tuesday to Saturday inclusive.
We count them 5 per week (usually Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday).

Usually non-working holiday

Example 2 : an employee is on leave from December 20 to 26, 2021, and December 25 is usually unemployed in the company. On December 25 falling on a Saturday, the company opening from Monday to Friday, it is not counted: the employee poses 5 days of holidays (Monday 20, Tuesday 21, Wednesday 22, Thursday 23 and Friday 24 December).

A clear day lasts from 0am to 24h. A time limit calculated in this way does not take into account the day of the decision giving rise to the time limit, nor the day of the deadline.
Example :
If the deadline ends on a Saturday or Sunday, it is postponed to Monday. If the period ends on a public holiday, it shall be postponed by one day. So if a deadline ends on a Saturday and the following Monday is a holiday, it is postponed to Tuesday.
A calendar day is any day in the calendar year, including holidays and unemployed, from 1er January to December 31, 365 days a year and 7 days a week.
