Guided tours, unpublished tours, outdoor activities, live shows, music, culinary art... On Saturday 18 May, from nightfall to 1 a.m., museums open their doors free of charge throughout France and Europe to audiences of all ages and backgrounds.

The European Night of Museums is part of the Ministry of Culture’s mission to democratize access to culture and make the wealth and diversity of museum works accessible to all.

Once again this year, as part of the “La Classe, l'oeuvre!” operation, primary, middle and high school students will present their work around a work or an object preserved in the collections of the museums participating in the operation. Conducted in partnership with the Ministry of Education and Youth, the program enables students to become cultural mediators overnight and to share artistic and cultural work with their teachers throughout the year.

How to find the event you are interested in?

The site of European Night of Museums provides you with a map allowing you to discover the program proposed in your city, your department, your region: for the 2024 edition, an immersion in augmented reality between archeology and cinema at the Musée de la Cératique in Lezoux, aerial dance in reference to the programming of the Olympic and Paralympic Games at the Musée de l'Air et de l'Espace in Le Bourget, a trip to the sound of the oriental notes of the oud, during a concert at the Musée des explorations du monde in Cannes, etc.

Reminder

The European Night of Museums has been organized by the Ministry of Culture since 2005, in conjunction with the regional directorates of cultural affairs (DRAC), to give a different experience to the museum. It benefits from the patronage of Unesco, the Council of Europe and ICOM (International Council of Museums) and numerous institutional and media partnerships.
