Merit aid

Awarded to the most deserving scholarship students, merit assistance is a complement to the scholarship based on social criteria. It is intended for students with low incomes, who have obtained a Very Good Baccalaureate in the Baccalaureate and wish to continue their studies.

To qualify, you must meet the following 3 conditions:

  • have submitted a Student Social Record (FSD) eligible for scholarships on social criteria or a specific annual allowance;
  • have been awarded a Very Good grade in Bac;
  • integrate a higher institution in the 2023 school year.

If your Student Social Record (SSR) is accepted, you don't have to take any other steps. The rectorate sends directly to the Crous the list of bachelors who have obtained a very good rating. The Crous will inform you if you can benefit from this merit aid. Its amount is fixed from one year to the next by an order published in July. For example, it amounted to €900 for 2022/2023.

If you received merit support before the start of the 2015 academic year and were unable to receive it in 2021/2022 because you were no longer eligible for a scholarship on social criteria, you can receive it again in 2022/2023 if you become eligible again for a scholarship on social criteria.

Finally, students eligible for merit support in 2021/2022, having completed a Civic Service in the same year, can receive their merit support in 2022/2023, subject to being a beneficiary of a scholarship on social criteria and within the framework of the number of scholarship entitlements opened under the curriculum followed.

FYI

merit aid shall be granted for 3 years. In the event of a repetition, you will no longer be eligible, unless the repetition is based on medical grounds. This aid may be combined with a international mobility aid and one ad hoc specific aid.

Merit grants awarded by local authorities

Depending on their municipality, department or region of residence, bachelor's degree graduates who have obtained a credit may be eligible for scholarships based on merit.

Do not hesitate to ask your local council, departmental or regional council if you can benefit from a merit scholarship and to know the amount.

Premiums given by banks

To attract future customers, some banks offer offers to new bachelor students every year when opening an account. Some also reward graduates who have not obtained a mention.

For some banks, the premiums are not the same from one region to another.

The bonus offered may exceed 150 € for a Very Good mention or take the form of vouchers.

Payment of this reward is made on condition that you have or open an account (or a savings book) in the bank concerned and on presentation of the transcript.

Check with a bank advisor to find out the amount of the premium and the conditions to benefit from it.
