Want to adopt electric biking as a means of transport? Now you can partially finance your purchase by scrapping your old diesel or gasoline car. The conversion premium previously reserved for the purchase of an electric car, van, scooter or electric motorcycle has been extended to electric assistance bicycles (EAVs) since July 26, 2021. Expanded conversion premium to electric bicycles
Who can benefit?
In order to benefit from the conversion premium:
to be of age
and be domiciled in France.
What characteristics should the bicycle purchased and the vehicle discarded have?
The bicycle purchased or rented from July 26, 2021 must meet the following characteristics:
be a power-assisted pedaling cycle (engine with a maximum power of 250 W, which stops when the vehicle reaches a speed of 25 km/h or if you stop pedaling);
be purchased or leased under a contract of 2 years or more.
A diesel car or van registered before 2011 or gasoline registered before 2006 must be scrapped. Old vehicles must be scrapped within three months before or six months after the date of billing for an acquisition or the date of the first lease payment.
How much?
The amount of the premium is 40% of the purchase price, up to €1,500. The amount of the conversion premium may be cumulated with the amount of the ecological bonus.

Please note
you receive a bonus if you live or work in a low-emission mobility (LMA) area and your local authority has provided you with assistance to purchase or rent an electric bicycle. The amount of the additional premium shall be the same as the aid paid by the local and regional authorities, up to €1,000.

Which new vehicles are involved?
The bicycle bonus previously reserved for electrically assisted bicycles now concerns:
bicycles
freighter
, electric or not. These are bicycles designed to carry people or goods at the back or front of the driver or to meet the needs of people with disabilities;
electric trailers for cycles.
The purchase is scheduled to take place between July 26, 2021 and December 31, 2022.
You must not sell the cargo bike or electric trailer within one year of its purchase.
The Decree of 26 April 2022 on aid for the acquisition or rental of low-emission vehicles introduces an identification obligation for bicycles and electric trailers eligible for the bicycle bonus.
Who can benefit?
To qualify, you must meet the following 3 conditions:
be of age;
to prove a place of residence in France;
have a reference tax income per share of the year preceding the purchase of the bicycle of less than or equal to €13,489 ;
How much?
The amount of the bonus is different from that paid for electric bicycles. It is equal to 40% of the purchase price, up to €1,000. Careful, the aid shall be paid at most once per person until 31 december 2022.
