In order to inform you and advise you, this guide brings together 4 parts.

Stop renewing too frequently

Nearly 80% of the impacts of the digital sector are due to device manufacturing. Here are some examples:

  • equip themselves with products bearing environmental labels, more energy-efficient and more sustainable thanks to the repairability index;
  • keep your equipment longer: increasing its environmental impact from 2 to 4 years of use by half
  • find alternatives to the new.

Essential: good maintenance

A few gestures are enough to prolong the life of our computers, tablets, smartphones, consoles. The Ademe therefore advises you to:

  • do not use in case of overheating;
  • anticipating shocks;
  • Clean dust in the computer's air vents.
  • protect systems: frequently updated antivirus, secure browser, removal of unnecessary data.

Connected yes, over-connected no

Do you know the good habits that limit digital electricity consumption? Some examples to follow:

  • favor Wi-Fi over 4G;
  • properly set up your devices;
  • the right connection at the right time. Turn off the connection and unplug your devices when you don't need them.

Limit weight and data path

Routers, servers, and other storage require a lot of power to operate. Some examples to adjust its uses and limit its consumption:

  • store useful and local by storing your data on a single platform to avoid duplication. Delete unnecessary documents.
  • Upload videos rather than stream them.
  • Optimized emails: clean your email, unsubscribe from newsletters you've never read, avoid attachments.
