Standardization needed

The beach flags have been modified to bring them into line with the international standard. They have been in effect since March 2022. The aim is to facilitate the understanding of these flags by tourists coming from the foreigner. Information signs on these new flags must be placed before access to the beach and on the emergency station.

The flags

The first change concerns the shape of the flags. They are now rectangular instead of triangular. New colors also appear.

What's changing

The orange flag turns yellow to alert of a limited or marked danger.

A two-colored flag (two horizontal red and yellow stripes) marks the bathing area monitored during the opening hours of the emergency station and replaces the purple calicot.

A purple flag warns of water pollution or dangerous aquatic species such as jellyfish.

A black and white checkered flag indicates an area of water practice where swimming is risky, but allowed.
