Freight transport in cities represents in France:

  • 20 % of traffic in built-up areas;
  • 20% of greenhouse gas emissions.

Deliveries to individuals are an increasing part of urban freight transport due to the development of e-commerce. This phenomenon has been amplified by the health crisis. The sector in 2021 exceeded €129 billion (+15.1% in one year). Nearly 90% of 15-79 year olds use online orders.
