Compensation measures for owners of burned vehicles

The government has just announced a simplified payment to compensate the most modest owners whose vehicles were burned during the urban violence. What is this emergency measure? Explanations with Service-Public.fr.

While 10-15% of owners (including third-party insured) cannot be covered in case of damage to their vehicle, the government has decided to provide an emergency response for the affected owners the most modest, if their insurance does not cover the damage suffered. In particular, it will be possible to mobilize the Guarantee Fund for Victims of Terrorism and Other Crimes.

What compensation and for whom?

Compensation for vehicle fire is paid on a means-tested basis. It is capped at €4,601.

To be compensated, your 2022 benchmark tax income must not exceed €27,606.

This amount is revalued upwards in line with the number of dependants.

How do I get compensation?

You have the opportunity to make a pre-application online, before filing the claim in person with the Commission for Compensation of Victims of Crime (CIVI) in your place of residence.

Alternatively, you can send your request by registered letter with acknowledgement of receipt to court of law from your home.

You must attach your request the complaint lodged and all the supporting documents for the damage suffered.
