Prepare your itinerary, limit your speed, take breaks... these are the reflexes to favor when you take the road.

Before leaving:

  • check the condition of his vehicle;
  • prepare its itinerary;
  • viewing forecast for Weather in France ;
  • rest before departure.

On the road:

  • be cautious: most accidents occur because of inattention;
  • pause every 2 hours;
  • hydrate regularly;
  • stay informed about the traffic conditions indicated by Smart Bison.

FYI

would you like to know traffic conditions in real time? You can use Coopits, a free app that has been tested at national level since April 2023. It allows real-time traffic information to be received from the road manager, promotes eco-driving by avoiding waiting at the fire and signaling lanes reserved for carpooling or public transport. The tool should then be integrated with the services of Smart Bison.

Practical tips for your trip

Do you know the village stages?

Do you want to avoid busy service areas during the summer but not get too far away from your road? The village stage is an alternative for a more peaceful stop. It is less than 5 km or 5 minutes from the road.

These labeled villages, indicated on your journey by signs, are at the service of road users by offering all shops and services nearby. One interactive map allows you to locate the stage villages throughout the territory, by regions, and the services offered in the chosen village.

Please note

76 municipalities (less than 5,000 inhabitants) are part of the national network of steppe villages in 2023.

How to take care of your pet during the trip?

The Department of Agriculture has developed a summer practical guide advice for pet owners (exposure to high heat, transport conditions) and to take action in the event of abandonment.
