Pound: find out where his car is in one click!

A new device initiated by the Ministry of Interior allows motorists to locate their vehicle if it has been impounded. Service-Public.fr explains how this simple, free service works.

Impoundment is used to punish the most serious traffic violations, or to stop dangerous, abusive, obstructing or obstructing parking.

The new on-line service provided by the Road Safety Delegation helps users find their impounded vehicles more easily, thanks to the establishment of the national information system for motor vehicle impoundments.

The search is accessible via the website Service-Public.fr : Check if your vehicle is impounded

More than 1,100 pounds are now listed in the information system.

Please note

the pounds of Paris, Lyon and Marseille are not in the system because they have dedicated sites.

How do I use the service?

You no longer have to move around or contact the pound pounds if you can't find your vehicle where you left it.

By simply entering your license plate number, you can verify whether the vehicle has been registered by the Pound Information System. If the vehicle is present in the database, its location and the coordinates of the pound where it is located are indicated to you.

What if you don't find your vehicle in the database?

You should contact the police or gendarmerie services nearby, and possibly file a complaint if your vehicle has been stolen.

Warning  

if you do not find your vehicle immediately, it is advisable to renew the approach because there may be a delay between the removal of the vehicle and its recording in the information system of the pound.

FYI  

if you arrive at the time of the removal and the vehicle still has all its wheels in contact with the ground, you can interrupt the procedure and recover the vehicle immediately. You will then have to pay the amount of the contravention on site or sign an acknowledgement of debt committing you to pay it.
