Orientation to general or technological high school

Your child is in high school and you wonder about his orientation? Accompaniment, orientation decisions: here is the information to know about your child's orientation from the second to the terminal.

Second

L'personalized accompaniment helps your child acquire work methods and build their orientation choices.

It takes place over a period of 72 hours per year, or 2 hours per week on average.

The pedagogical team (teachers, school head) defines, for each student, the organization of the personalized support. All teachers can participate.

In the school

Your child can get advice from his or her principal teacher. He will provide useful advice based on his motivations and possibilities.

Your child may also make an appointment with the guidance counselor-psychologist of national education who regularly intervenes in high schools.

Outside the school

Your child may go to a information and guidance centre (IOC).

Your child may also go to a youth information and documentation centre (CIDJ). This structure welcomes and informs young people free of charge on all the subjects that interest them, particularly on career choices and working life.

At 2e quarter, you can request the passage of your child to class of 1re specifying the desired series (general or technological). You can also request repetition.

The class council responds to them on an interim basis.

If you are not satisfied with the answer, a dialog will take place between you and the principal teacher.

At 3e quarter, you want to have a definitive orientation.

The class council responds by taking into account your child's balance sheet. Two types of decisions can be made:

  • The advice is in accordance with your request. The proposal is then yours notified.
  • The board disagrees with your request. You are then offered an interview with the head of the establishment. If this interview does not lead to an agreement, the head of the school notifies you of his decision, stating the reasons. You have 3 working days to appeal that decision to an appeal board.

The Appeal Board shall be chaired by the Dasen: titleContent and includes school leaders, teachers, parents, and education and guidance staff.

You and your child can ask to be heard by the commission.

The decision of the appeal board is the final direction decision.

Repetition may be pronounced when a pedagogical support device has not made it possible to put an end to the major learning difficulties of a pupil.

A repetition must be accompanied by specific educational measures for the pupil (setting up a personalized educational achievement program for example).

Please note

the head of the establishment may exceptionally advise your child to go to the for professional use. This advice must be accompanied by a proposal for a guideline for a series of 1re general or technological. Your child's career path is decided if you do so request in writing.

First

your child may change direction in progress or at year-end. You (or your child if he or she is of age) must then send a written request to the head of the school, after the advice of the class council.

A personal orientation interview is arranged by the head teacher. It helps your child determine his or her orientation choices. The maintenance also allows him to determine the steps to be carried out and the schedule to come.

The interview allows to prepare the class council of the 1er guidance quarter.

Before 1er senior class advice, your child fills out a dialog card to indicate its draft guidelines.

The class council of the 1er trimester gives an opinion on the direction your child is planning.

The class council decides on the wishes of the pupil to continue his studies in higher education. The head of the institution must give an opinion on each of these wishes.

Teachers and the head teacher fill out a future card which includes advice on the direction your child is seeking. The fact sheet is automatically transmitted to higher education institutions via the platform Browse.

FYI  

if your child has failed at the bac, they are allowed to re-enroll in their institution. They can ask to keep scores equal to or greater than 10 out of 20 for the next 5 sessions.

Your child wants to enter higher education. At 2e quarter of senior, He must then register on the site Browse.

Browse allows the student to:

  • Obtain information on training characteristics. In particular the expected skills, the content and organization of the lessons, the success rates, the opportunities
  • Obtain information on the institutions offering the training and in particular on their capacity
  • Getting guidance on direction
  • Wishing students continued education
  • Create and track your application
