How old can one work in the public service?

From a certain age, any public official (official or contractual) is automatically retired. This age limit varies depending on whether you are a public servant or a contractor and, if you are a public servant, depending on whether you occupy a active category job or sedentary.

You can apply to be kept in business until age 67 if you are able to continue working.
This option is granted to you after any extension of the age limit that you may benefit from for your children and for incomplete career.
When you apply to work up to age 67, you cannot benefit from long-term or long-term sick leave, therapeutic part-time work or reclassification for physical incompetence during this period of continuing activity.
If your health condition requires such leave, you are automatically retired.
You must send a written request for an extension of the age limit to your administration at least 6 months before your 62e birthday or age you have reached due to possible postponements of the age limit for children and/or incomplete career.
Your request must state the reason for requesting this postponement and must be accompanied by the relevant supporting documents.
The administration does not have to give you permission to continue working beyond the age limit.

If you were a parent of at least 3 live children at age 50 and you still have one or more dependent children at age 67, you can roll up the age limit deferrals granted in these 2 cases if at least one of your dependent children at age 67 has a disability equal to or greater than 80%.
